Jury out for Brown

A TOWNSVILLE Supreme Court jury yesterday began considering its verdict in the trial of Arthur Stanley Brown, a retired carpenter charged with the murder of the Mackay sisters.

Mr Brown, 87, was granted bail by Justice Keiran Cullinane at 6pm and returned home after the jury ceased the day's deliberations without a verdict. Mr Brown has pleaded not guilty to abducting, sexually assaulting and murdering Susan Mackay, 5, and her sister Judith, 7, near Townsville in 1970.
