Modifications

28 October 2009 Some news. Some subsequent minor changes have been made to the Bibliography and a couple of other pages.
2 November 2007 Some news. Some subsequent minor changes have been made to the Bibliography and a couple of other pages.
22 September 2007 Some further, minor tweaking of the Derek Percy news story as well as another story about Bevan Spencer von Einem. Adjustments made to the Possible Suspects, Footnotes and Bibliography pages.
30 August 2007 Some news. Some subsequent minor changes have been made to the Bibliography and a couple of other pages.
28 April 2007 Some news, in fact two stories in one week that I have not been able to update the site with until now. Some subsequent minor changes have been made to the Bibliography.
6 October 2006 I have long had a page about James O'Neill prepared, however due to the legal limbo in which his case has existed I did not dare to publish it. Now that the injunction against the ABC has been lifted the page is on the site. There have been consequent small changes to some other pages, such as the Possible Suspects page, and notably the Footnotes page.
10 June 2006 Almost the smallest change possible. One of the websites I recommend in my Recommended Links page changed address. I didn't realise this until someone emailed to point it out, but I have now fixed the link.
13 April 2006 A new page titled Clippings in the Rubbish about the newspaper clippings found in an Adelaide dump in 1986. Like so many others, it was a False Lead. Naturally, some minor updates to the Footnotes and the Bibliography.
9 February 2006 Tidied up everything written yesterday in haste, including the review. This has involved updates to the Footnotes and the Bibliography, which now mentions, of course, "Searching for the Beaumont children."
8 February 2006 Have added a review of the new book "Searching for the Beaumont children".
25 January 2006 It's barely news but News it is. The detective in charge of the Beaumont case says that the case will be solved. Have also made some very minor adjustments to the Bibliography to make the internet resources more comprehensively documented.
20 January 2006 More News. A book titled "Searching for the Beaumont children", by Alan J. Whiticker, is to be published on 1 February.
23 December 2005 A major update to the site. The "False Hopes" page had been named False Leads, and now leads off into several sub-pages devoted to different, well-publicised false leads in the case. Some of this information, about "Jane Beaumont" in Canberra, Babies beneath the floorboards and the Myponga Reservoir, are new to this site. The details about Gerard Croiset, previously on a separate page titled "The Psychic", are now also under the False Leads heading.

There is now a separate page for The Oval Abduction where there wasn't before. I have also now combined details of three named suspects in the case under one page titled, appropriately enough, Possible Suspects? Under this heading I have rewritten the page about Arthur Stanley Brown which used to be part of the "Other Cases" page, and have created new pages for Bevan Spencer von Einem and Derek Ernest Percy. There is another page which I would like to add but for which the opportunity has not arisen.

There is a new page for Recommended Links. This is not the only site on the web dedicated to the Beaumont children and the others come to the case from different angles, so are worth looking at. Meanwhile, the Bibliography has of course been updated, and I've added some more notes after the main list of references used. This "Modifications" page has also been updated; the revamp meant that many links became obsolete. Links that did exist before are now referred to in quotation marks. Where the context of the quotation marks is not obvious, a note has been added to explain that the link has been removed. Also updated have been the Footnotes page and the picture from the home page has been replaced with a clearer version. There have been a couple more News stories as well.

Finally, the menu bar on the left hand side of the site has now been updated along with everything else. This should keep the site easily navigable. If anybody is interested, the main text of the site is in Times New Roman but the menubar is written in Gill Sans.

20 June 2005 More News. The reward for information leading to a solution to the Beaumont children mystery has been increased to $100,000. There is a consequent small update to the Bibliography as well.
5 April 2005 More News. A very minor news item that Beaumont suspect James O'Neill intends to apply for parole, and that the ABC is intending to broadcast a documentary about him on 28 April. There is a consequent small update to the Bibliography as well.
1 April 2005 Have updated the "Mackay sisters murder trial" page. There are two changes. Firstly, I have obtained permission to reproduce (for a fee) the articles from The Australian and The Weekend Australian. Secondly, I have updated the information about the second trial, to explain why the second trial didn't start and what became of Brown. There is a consequent update to the Bibliography as well.
28 March 2005 More News. The television program Today Tonight says that it has found new evidence about the case and a new suspect. There is a consequent small update to the Bibliography as well.
7 February 2005 More News. It's actually only a minor story about Hobart newspaper The Mercury not being allowed to interview James O'Neill, but it's still linked with the case. There are consequent small updates to the Bibliography and the Footnotes pages.
6 February 2005 Another new story in the case has led to an update to the News page. Victorian prisoner Derek Percy has again been linked to the Beaumont children disappearance, as well as four other cases. Have also updated the "The Psychic" page and made slight adjustments to the "Mackay sisters murder trial" page. There is more information to come on this which I haven't yet had time to put together. Also updated is the Bibliography and I have added a Footnotes page.
27 January 2005 Have added the News page following story linking murderer James O'Neill to the Beaumont children disappearance. This story will either break the case or become part of the story of the case, and will therefore find a more permanent home on the site. In the meantime, however, it's definitely breaking news.
25 January 2005 Some elementary changes. When the site was created it was a single page, so calling it "The Beaumont Children Page" seemed entirely apt. There are now a total of 25 pages and so I have now done a long overdue renaming. It is now simply "The Beaumont Children". I have also made slight modifications to the home and At the Beach pages, a matter of simple rewording in each case.
16 January 2005 There is now a Feedback page for anybody who wishes to email me. This should eliminate most of the spam that used to be received.
4 January 2005 The site has been resurrected. Following a dispute with my original ISP the site went down in early 2003. Due to various circumstances it has taken until now to restore.
18 March 2001 Updated about the "Mackay sisters murder trial" page with what little extra information I have been able to find about the case. Also added Tom Prior's book The Sinners' Club to the Bibliography. Updated the The Children page with extra pieces of information from Prior's book, namely the children's dates of birth.
25 February 2001 Have made some minor changes that a visitor to the site is unlikely to notice. A couple of the pages (eg At the Beach) have been rewritten slightly in places. Have also introduced elementary style sheets.
19 February 2001 Added an article from Who Weekly magazine about the case. It is accessible from the main page, or alternatively click "on this link" [link now removed]. Naturally, the Bibliography has also been updated. Also slightly changed the info about the "identikit" page, since thanks to the Who Weekly magazine "article" [link now removed] I now know how to spell the Adelaide Advertiser's artist's name.
19 January 2001 First update in well over a year. The website now has a new address, www.beaumontchildren.com, hosted by a new ISP. All of the pages have been edited appropriately. At the request of a visitor, each topic page now has links to the previous and next pages. A transparent gif file is now used in the menu sidebar. Some information has also been added to the The Suspect, page, including a link to a partial transcript from the ABC Radio Eye program about the Beaumont children. The new page is here. Finally, updated the Bibliography, which now mentions the ABC Radio Eye program.
15 November 1999 Added some more articles about the Mackay sisters murder trial to the site. Go to the "Mackay murder trial" page to read these articles.
27 October 1999 Added some articles about the Mackay sisters murder trial to the site. Go to the "Mackay murder trial" page to read these articles.
20 September 1999 Correction: An English visitor to this site has pointed out that the Jamie Bulger case occurred in Liverpool, England, and not in Scotland as I stated in the "Other Cases" page.
12 August 1999 Updated the "False Hopes" page.
9 August 1999 Rewrote the intro on the Main page. The previous introduction was a touch facetious and badly worded.
30 July 1999 The site now has pictures! Pictures of the Beaumont Children, and the identikits of the Suspect(s) wanted in connection with the disappearance of the Beaumont children and the Adelaide Oval abduction, are now on the site.
13 July 1999 Updated pages about the Suspect and the Children, also the At the Beach page, and the page about "the Psychic", the latter with information from Jack Ayling's book Nothing But The Truth (see the Bibliography for details). Also added a new page, concerning the witnesses at the beach, in order to try to simplify and clarify the At the Beach page.
12 July 1999 Updated the Bibliography, the Main page, and the "Other Cases" page, as the first stages of a general site update.
20 April 1999 Installed a link to my other site, "The Bogle and Chandler Page".
29 January 1999 Added Pages featuring descriptions of the Beaumont children and the Suspect; also a Page about some of the "false leads" [link now removed] in the investigation, and finally, a page detailing the relationship between the disappearance of the Beaumont children and some other "cases" [link now removed].
27 January 1999 Added Page about "The Psychic" to the site.
18 January 1999 Added Page about The Search to the site. Also added the Bibliography.
15 January 1999 Added the At the Beach Page to the site, the first page on the site other than the front page.
13 January 1999 Created the site as "The Beaumont Children Page". It is only the skeleton of a website so far, however every site must have some beginning.
